I think one of most peoples New Years Resolutions is to get organized! I know it’s one of mine……well every year! But it’s more apt to happen if I can have fun with it! Printers trays are one of my favorite vintage goodies! Did you know printers trays were used from about 1890-1960 to hold various pieces of an alphabet set? Fun fact…these trays were organized in font families and stored in a vertical cabinet which is where the terms “uppercase” and “lowercase” came from! I’ve collected a few of my favorite ideas for using these wonderful treasures.
Make an art piece for you wall or coffee table……..or just make a coffee table!! I won’t be able to get this one out of my mind for sure! They also make great jewelry organizers, and what a wonderful idea to paint one and us it to organize and compliment your crafting supplies!
I love the use of the trays to organize craft supplies and what about using one in your kitchen to organize your spices?
Of course the classic use for these beautiful trays is for displaying collections, and I can’t honestly think of a better way to display all of your “smalls”And last but not least, along with individual printers trays, we have this beautiful cabinet full of trays in the store. It’s such a beautiful piece of history. The font names are still even on the drawers, and I just love the chippy green paint in combination with the dark stains and metal pulls on the drawers.
